Hiya!
God it feels like bloody forever since I last did a blog post; final year is FAR too busy for my liking! How has your week been so far? Is anyone else finding January depressing and busy?!
After a lot of deliberating, I've FINALLY decided on my favourite make up products of 2011 - took me bloody long enough! These have been the pieces that I reached for literally everyday of 2011 and will continue to adore this year!
Foundations: I had two absolute favourite foundations last year; Healthy Mix just sits so well on the skin and feels very light but still has good coverage so I used this on my good skin days. ColourStay, on the other hand, is very heavy but just gives flawless results - this is definitely my go-to foundation for night outs. I love the fact that ColourStay comes in different formulations for different skin types, as well. Such a winner in my books!
Concealer: I was a big fan of Erase Paste last year, especially for underneath my eyes as it's very brightening but light. I didn't find that this was very good at covering blemishes though... What are your favourite concealers because I am needing a new one?!
Eyeliner: My standard make up always includes a bit of liner on the upper lid and this has been my favourite for about 4ish years! I find it so easy to apply and it has such good colour payoff.
Mascara: Literally cannot rate They're Real! enough! It's just bloody incredible! Seriously, if you haven't tried it, just do it right. Now. It makes your eyelashes look fake (in a good way).
Highlighter: No. 7's Skin Illuminator is a really nice cream formula that gives such a natural glow on the cheekbones. Sometimes if my face is looking particularly flat and dull, I'll mix some in to my foundation and it works especially well with Healthy Mix. I can't imagine using any other highlighter, this is just right up my street!
Eyeshadow: This is a bit of a cheat because I only started using this palette in December.... BUT 2011 was the year I got over my fear of eyeshadow (I used to be all about the lip!) and fell in love with neutrals (so not very adventurous). I love every colour in this palette and have used it religiously since I got it.
Blush: Stunner is such a natural blush and I love MAC blushes. I use this blush daily and it always makes me look just a bit more healthy and alive which is never a bad thing!
What are your make up lifesavers?! Also, any concealer recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
I've been testing and comparing my BB creams for the last few weeks so I can give proper, thorough reviews in my next post!
I really hope you're all having a brilliant Tuesday!
Lots of love,
Lucy xxx
My fave concealers are definitely Mac Studio Finish and sometimes I use the Collection 2000 lasting perfection Concealer if I need more coverage :) xx
ReplyDeleteI bought the Collection 2000 one the other day but I think it made my skin look really dry! Do you have this problem at all?!
DeleteAnd I think I definitely need to try out the Studio Finish concealer, I've heard such good things about it! :)
xxxx
i use the collection 2000 concealer and i think it is amazing! i love it for covering up dark circles. are you using it with a concealer brush? i find that it works much better that way :) xx
Deletei kind blend it into my foundation with my foundation brush on problem areas so maybe I should whip out the concealer brush and start being a bit more specific!
DeleteThank you for the tip!

I really want this MUA palette but I can't find it anywhere!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to buy it for my friend a few weeks ago but couldn't find it anywhere either! I ended up ordering it online but I just spent a lot more money than I should have done to get free delivery (any excuse)! xxx
DeleteI need me some erase paste!
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice and literally lasts forever!
ReplyDeleteI normally buy mine for eBay and haven't had any problems so far! xxx
I love erase paste too and also Benefit Boi-ing concealer for blemishes.
ReplyDeleteI've awarded with you the Cute Blog Award on my blog :)

Oh I've never tried Boi-ing concealer before! I'm definitely looking for a new one for blemishes, just ordered Mac's Studio Sculpt concealer, but may have to try this as well! Thank you for recommending it!
DeleteOh gosh, thank you! I'm going to go and have a look :) xxx
Really want a MUA palette? worth the expense?xx

Good god YES! For four pounds you really cannot go wrong! Such gorgeous colours to do a neutral and subtle smokey eye.
DeleteI cannot live without now! xxxx
Surprisingly i hated the bourjois healthy mix foundation but i want to get my hands on MUA palette!

Ahh it's so frustrating when foundations do just not float your boat! What did you find wrong with it? I absolutely HATE the serum, it literally just slides off my face. Hahaha

I also like these cosmetics - they are great :D

I love Revlon Colourstay too! I think I'll try the Bourjois Healthy mix when my other foundation runs out. x
ReplyDeleteIt's so good isn't it?! I'm so impressed with it, especially for the price!
DeleteYeah I'd recommend it, let me know how you find it! xxx
i love the fast stroke liquid eyeliner! before i started using mac fluidline i think i used it solidy every day for like two years! i've heard such good things about erase paste x
ReplyDeleteOhhh I'm very tempted to buy the fluidline after you've said that! I'm not very good at applying gel liner, although I suppose practice will make it easier!
DeleteI just got mac's studio sculpt concealer and I've got to say, it's a new favourite!
xxx
I love everything in your favourites... I just haven't tried the MUA palette or Benefit mascara yet, but I've heard such good things about them both xx
ReplyDeleteOhhh you've got to try them! I absolutely love them both! Let me know if you get your hands on them and what you think?x xxx
DeleteI've heard a lot of good things about Healthy Mix though I haven't even tried it out myself yet!
ReplyDeleteIt's SUCH a good foundation, although I'd say I probably prefer No 7's BB cream now, gives about the same level of coverage but feels even lighter!
DeleteAlso I think Healthy Mix may have made me break out a bit...
Who knows?!
xx
I'm always on the lookout for the best foundations and haven't tried either of these, so this was really useful, thanks for sharing!

DeleteYeah I've been using it recently and have absolutely loved it!
xxxx
I cannot live without a blush and a down-to earth natural eye palette that adds a bit of sparkle :) I also like what Lucy likes :) thanks for following me, I do now too :)
ReplyDeleteGreat picks! I really NEED a good concealer too. The hunt continues :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving mac's studio sculpt concealer for blemishes and boujois brush concealer under the eyes at the moment!xxx
Deletei see everyone using MUA eyeshadows and products but where do you get them from? i want myself some as well, as for much blushes i can't say that i am totally impressed by them, they just don't fullfil my standars, i am currently using a bourjois paris one which is amazing you should search for their blushes they are of great quality. as for the revlon and bourjois foundations i tried them on and they rock, they cover skins flaws so perfectly.

DeleteOhhh I've definitely going to keep my eye out for boujois blushes! xxx
I don't think I've tried any of these products out! I think its about time to though, I've heard great things about them all, especially the Bourjois Healthy Mix! I've got to get my hands on the MUA Heaven and Earth pallet too~
